After 14 years as a teacher she joined the mining industry in their Adult Education Department, at first facilitating and then ABET Coordinator and became Head of the Numeracy department for all the Goldfields centres. During that time she initiated and coordinated the writing of new ABET learning material. Henda obtained Assessor and Verifier Certificates through City & Guilds in London according to their National Vocational Qualifications (NVQ) framework. Once the South African Qualifications Authority (SAQA) was established with its own National Qualifications Framework (NQF), she also obtained her Assessor, Moderator, Design & Development Certificates. She was project manager for an ABET programme in Welkom, Phuthaditjaba and Bloemfontein. The learners all wrote Independent Examination Board (IEB) exams at NQF level 1 in six subjects. She worked in Sierra Leone, West Africa, developing and training Supervisory training material.
